About us

Blaudruckerei Kentrup (Indigo Printer Kentrup) preserves the century old craft of indigo  printing. They are situated at the heart of Nottuln, the oldest monastery village of the Münster area and the oldest indigo printer in North Rhine-Westphalia. The age of the printing business can be officially traced back to the year 1833 through the family’s recipe book, but it also existed before this time.

Historisches GebäudeThe secrets of indigo printing, the mixing of the colours and the techniques used for the reserve print and the direct print have been preserved in this recipe book for generations. To this day the printing plant is still a family business with a few employees.

The old craft of indigo printing has become scarce in many areas but in Nottuln the tradition is as lively as ever.

Currently the Indigo printing plant is being managed by the seventh generation of founding Kentrups - Dirk Wilhelm Kentrup.
